Byrd, William (Bill) Walter, 57, entered into eternal peace Sunday Sept. 1, 2013 at the Melech Hospice House Tampa, after a valiant battle with cancer. Bill was born March 13, 1957 in Jacksonville, graduating from Terry Parker High. He received his Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and Juris Doctor from Stetson College of Law. Bill's scholastic honors included: President of the FSU Student Senate, President of Rotaract Service Org., Vice President of Omicron Delta Kappa National Scholastic and Leadership Honorary, member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, President of Garnet and Gold Key Leadership Honorary and member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Professionally, Bill served as Assistant State Attorney for 13th Judicial Circuit Hillsborough County, senior trial attorney for State of Florida Dept. of Banking and Finance, Assistant General Counsel for the State of Florida for CIGNA Property and Casualty Insurance. He opened his own law practice in 1999 and formed Byrd & Gonzalez, P.A. in 2005. Bill was an avid Seminole fan. He loved boating, fishing and spending time with his family. Bill is survived by wife Carol; son Michael; father Hubert; brother Daniel; sister Michele Byrd Schuster and many nieces and nephews.Services: 11am Sat. Sept. 7, 2013, Palma Ceia Presbyterian. Donations can be made to LifePath Hospice.
