Melanie K. Paschal died June 13, 2017. She was born to Melanie Eustache and Yasaburo Kashima on May 26, 1922 in New York City. She lived on the island of Martinque until the age of 9 when she returned to N.Y. to further her education in piano, voice, ballet and gymnastics. Later she graduated from Webster College and worked as a secretary in public relations, securities, pharmaceutical manufacturing and scientific research.

On October 18, 1949, she married Guy Sherman Paschal, a research chemist. They moved to Longboat Key where they were instrumental in beginning the Longboat Key Chapel. Melanie taught the children's Sunday school class and was active in community activities. Later they moved to the barracks at the airport and eventually settled on Clear Sky Farm in rural Manatee County where they had a menagerie of animals. Melanie and Guy hosted several radio talk shows in the 60's and a TV talk show in the 70's.

After Guy's death, she moved to Sunnyside Village in 2000. Interested in jogging, Melanie was a member of Manasota Track Club and later brought home trophies and medals from the Senior Olympics.

Burial was held at Manasota Memorial Park. Memorial Service will be held at Sunnyside Village Chapel on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 2:30 pm. Donations may be made to Sunnyside Memorial Foundation, 5201 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota, FL 34232.
